Moving Again!

I never thought I’d be moving back to Japan. I remember saying, “I’m glad I went, but I don’t plan to live there forever.” Yet, David and I just bought one-way tickets to the Kansai International Airport (Hmmm, I hope I still have my Japanese-English dictionary!).

It’s been a long struggle to figure out where my future path lies. After a couple false starts, though, I’ve returned to EFL teaching, with a plan to continue and advance in this field. With this decision made, we leave for Japan on March 19.

I’ll be teaching English at an “English conversation school,” known as an Eikaiwa in Japanese, UI School of English. It is a small school run by a Japanese woman. We’ll be living on the island of Shikoku in the city of Tokushima.

The current plan is to stay at least a year (one-year contract, but possibility of renewal), and get a certification in EFL teaching, either concurrently or as a full-time course in a couple years.

Just like before, this blog is where I’ll post updates and links to Flickr where the photos are. Look for updates twice a month. Just because we’ll be in Japan doesn’t mean we’ll be far away. With Skype, email, and blogging, we’ll be as close as ever!

As we get closer to moving day, and as we settle in to our apartment in Tokushima, I’ll keep you all posted.
