UI School of English

The place where I work is called UI School of English, and the name has multiple meanings. However, none of those meanings include University of Iowa or University of Illinois or even University of Idaho ... all of which have comes to my mind at one time.

This is the sign lit up at night on the outside of our building.
More photos of the school will follow soon.

The name reflects my boss’ creative and comprehensive mind. In English it calls to mind “you” and “I”, while in Japanese, the characters for friendship and love can be pronounced “yu” and “ai” respectively.

The letters are also abbreviations for such words as unity and unique; independent and inclusive ... and any other words in the spirit of friendship, co-operation, and fostering the growth of international relations.

It really is a great place to work.
